This morning we walked around the Saint Nicholas Church. It is known for its simple design, mosaic floors and Byzantine frescos.

Tacky gift shop
Then we took a bus to Cirali: a beautiful beach community surrounded by mountains. We will start hiking from here tomorrow.
Dinner in Cirali. At the end of the meal the waiter offered free gifts--fruit plate and tea--to keep us around longer in order to attract more customers.

This evening we walked up to the Chimaera--flames that burn out of the rock at the base of Mount Olympos.

  1. Hi Cecily and Sandy, We met briefly at Kent Hotel in Demre last year. I continued from there on the Lycian way and got as far as Olympos and saw the Chimeara too. This year In was back to see if I could complete the Lycian Way. I covered the inland (mountain) route as far north as Gönük Yayla and the returned south via the coastal route, visiting Phaselis on the way. Back at Olympos I hiked back south to Adrassan before returning to Antalya. I don't know if you know all of these places but I 'm sure you have great memories of your Turkish trip judging by your blog. My own blog is robinwalk.blogspot . You may remember that I was raising money for Water Aid and over the three visit managed to raise over £3,000! I'd love to go back and see more of Turkey - and revisit some places again. Hope all is well with you, best wishes for all your future travels. Robin Thomson
