We are now in our pansyon in Kas (pronounced "Kosh") watching the Simpsons with Turkish subtitles. Tomorrow we're back on the trail. We took the bus from Patara; the ride along the Mediterranean was beautiful. The bus system is impressive and very accessable; I wish we had something comparable. There is also a significant reliance on solar water heaters and power.

Today we explored Kas and met our Turkish travel consultant face-to-face rather than online. We mapped out a plan for our next 10 days on the trail. We picked apricots off trees in parks and along the street. We had an exhausting experience looking at rugs with a salesman who took pressure to a whole new level. At dinner later, we had mezze, local fish, and learned about and tried Raki--a Turkiah drink mixed with water, 50% alcohol, and tasting like anise. It was quite pleasant. Tomorrow we're back to camp food--beans, couscous, oatmeal, and dries fruit. The dried figs are fantastic.
